Alone Get Away

Portia POV
Nimble fingers trace my shoulders down my back lightly tickling me. They stop just as they’re about to go under the covers. Butterfly kisses are tenderly left all over my back up to the back of my neck. Her hot breath sends chills all over my body. I moan giving away my awaken state.
“Oh, someone is awake.” She teases me with more soft kisses.
“Mmm-hmm.” I hum as I turn over pulling her on top of me. We’re not getting out of this bed today. We have nothing to do, nowhere to go, no one to see. Just us, in our own little world.
“Babe-” I wrap my legs around her waist and crush my lips against hers cutting her off. “Just...one...word.” She manages to get out in our heated kiss.
“Tell. Me.” I say between pecks.
“Spain.”
“What?” I ask confused and she laughs.
“Spain. Let’s go to Spain. Just you and I.” I stare at her, surprised, her head tilts to the side like a confused puppy and furrows her eyebrows. “We don’t have to go if-” I place my index finger over her lips silencing her.
“Let’s go. Today. Let’s get out of here.” Ellen blinks once, twice and on the third blink a smile spreads across her beautiful face making my heart skip a beat.
“Yeah?” She asks nervously. I nod as I wrap my arms around her neck bringing her in for a kiss, I could feel her smile into our kiss.
----------------------------
“What's this place called again?” I ask for the fifth time as we get in the taxi that'll take us out of this airport.
“Mallorca, that memory of yours keeps getting worse and worse.” Ellen teases me and I pout. “I'm kiddingggg. Come here.” She mumbles pulling me into her arms.
“Thank you.” I whisper against her shoulder. “Thank you for showing me the world. I couldn't have ask for anyone else to see it with. I love you.” She kisses my head tenderly and sighs.
“I love you more every single day. I'm so thankful for whatever brought you to me, you make me so happy and I can only hope I make you just as happy.” I look up to those beautiful blue eyes and stare at them for a couple of seconds.
“Incredibly happy.” I say under my breath against her lips. The kiss is short but full of the love we feel for each other. Ellen wraps her arm around me and I rest my head on her shoulder.
“You know what I'm gonna do as soon as we get there?” I sit up and find a mischievous look on her face. “After I take a ten hour nap of course.” She jokes.
“What?” I'm almost scared to ask. Her ideas are always full of surprises.
“I'm going to jump off a cliff.”
“Are you crazy?!” I yell and the taxi driver looks at me through the rearview mirror worried, I give him a smile to let him know everything is fine and then glare at Ellen.
“What? It’s on my bucket list.” She simply says and I continue to glare at her. The jetlag definitely got her this time.
“You're kidding, you can't be serious.” I cross my arms over my chest as I shake my head. “You're scared of heights. There's no way you'll do it.” I challenge her.
“Wanna bet?” There it is. That smile that says don't dare me because I'll do it. I sigh. “You know I'll win.” She whispers in my ear sending chills down my back.
“It's dangerous.” I huff and puff. “What if you get hurt? What if you don't come back-”
“Shhh. Nothing will happen to me, I promise.” I let myself melt into her arms again. She has never broken a promise, I feel more at ease whenever she makes a promise.
----------------------------
Our room has an amazing view of the Mediterranean Sea. To our right there's the horizon, where the sky meets the water. How the sky turns to different shades of blue as the day goes by. To the left there's rocky mountains and a cliff off of a path. Just looking at it gives me chills.
I hold on the railing of the balcony as I'm in awe at how beautiful this is. How we take everything mother nature gives us for granted. Deep in thought I drift away and am startled when I feel two soft hands snake around my waist.
“Hi, baby.” Ellen whispers in my ear.
“It's beautiful.” I breathe out as Ellen pulls me closer against her. A soft kiss on my neck has me melting in her arms. Again.
“I agree.”
“I'm talking about the view, baby.”
“And I'm talking about my view.” She spins me around and stares at me making me nervous. “You're beautiful.” I look down avoiding her teasing blue eyes.
“You're silly.” I mumble. “And crazy.” I look up to find that smile she has only for me. I peck her lips before turning around again. She rests her chin on my shoulder and sighs.
“So, that's the cliff huh?” She points at the chill-giving cliff with a hint of fear in her voice.
“That's the one. I still don't think you'll do it.” I say matter of factly.
“We have a bet. I'll do it and then we'll do whatever I want.” She lowers her right hand down my stomach and into my shorts.
“And-" My breath hitches when she cups my sex knowing what this action does to me. “- If I win I think I'll have plenty of dessert tonight.” I whisper against her lips and grab her wrist pulling her hand out of my shorts. “I'm really hungry.” I give her ass a smack and walk away.
“You're killing me baby, you're really killing me.” I hear Ellen groan as she goes to sit on a lounge chair, I laugh and grab my book taking a seat inside. It's way too hot today to sit outside.
Ten minutes pass and Ellen is still outside in the heat. I stare at the back of her head wondering what she's thinking about. I sigh and shake my head, I pick up my book and settle it on my lap.
A minute later I catch some movement on the corner of my eye. I look up and see Ellen pulling her grey shirt over her head revealing a black sports bra. I stare in awe at how her muscles flex at the simple action.
Halfway through my book I glance at the clock on the wall. An hour and a half has passed and still no sign of Ellen. A small pang of worrisome overcomes me and I panic. I throw my book aside and run outside.
I sigh and roll my eyes when I find Ellen asleep on the lounge chair with her shirt over her head shielding her face from the sun. I carefully sit next to her taking the shirt off.
“Baby.” I say softly. Ellen is a light sleeper, any noise wakes her up. I'm surprised me opening the door abruptly didn't wake her up. “Ellen.” I say louder nudging her arm.
“Hmmm.” She groans.
“Aren't you gonna go jump off that cliff?”
“No… tomorrow… five more-" And she's out again. A light snore fills the silence as I sigh in relief. Deep down I was scared she was actually going to do it but at the same time I had to win this bet.
I lay on the tiny space next to her moving her arm and resting my head on her chest. I wrap my arm around her torso pulling her closer to me.
Unconsciously her arm wraps around my shoulder, even asleep she wants me close to her. I feel safe when I'm in her arms. I pull my leg over her and take a deep breath. My eyes start closing against my will, her shallow breathing lulls me to sleep.
----------------------------
I wake up to light kisses on my head and a hand caressing my back up and down. I don't dare move, this is how I want to be forever, cuddled up next to Ellen is all I want. I press my cheek closer to her chest trying to catch one of my favorite sounds. Her heartbeat is slow and steady, I wrap my arm around her tighter and take a deep breath.
“I love you, Ellen.” I mumble against her chest.
“Well someone decided to finally wake up.”
“Says the one that fell asleep as soon as she laid.”
“Hm.” Even though I can't see her I know she has that goofy smile. “I love you even if you just called me lazy.” I giggle and place a kiss on her chest as I lift up my head to look at her.
“But you are lazy.” I tease her.
“Am not.” She attempts to cross her arms over her chest. “I was just tired.” I roll my eyes and sit up. Ellen moves so we both fit comfortably in the rather small lounge chair.
“Look.” I point to the brightest star in the sky. “That shines just for you.” A kiss on my neck gives me chills.
“And that one-" Ellen points to the right at the full moon. “Shines just for you.”
“Babe, hate to break to you but the moon is not a star.” I tease her.
“No, but it's beautiful just like you.” My heart flutters at how sweet she is. I'm so lucky.
We stare at the sky in silence just enjoying each other's company. The little things is what brings the most joy. I could stay like this; her arms wrapped tightly around me, my head resting on her chest listening to her heartbeat.
“I won the bet.”I casually say.
“No- you didn't-"
“Yes I did. You said today. Well today is over-” I point up to the sky. “-as you can see.”
“No. You cheated. You didn't wake me up on purpose.” She starts whining like a five year old.
“Such a crybaby.” I say under my breath.
“Am not.” Ellen pouts. I shake my head lifting it up to peck her chin. “You always get your way. Not fair.” I try my best at puppy dog eyes that always seem to work. “Don’t- come on, don’t give me that look.”
“What look, I’m not doing anything.”
“You…” She squints her eyes and stares at me. “You have figured how to get your way with me, haven’t you?” I nod smiling sheepishly.
“I know you like the back of my hand.”
“And I love you with all my heart.” Her index fingers lifts my chin placing a soft but full of love kiss.
“I have an idea.” I swiftly get up and run back inside and call the reception. I can feel Ellen’s blue eyes staring at me. I know she can’t hear me but I speak as low as I can.

Ellen POV
I lean against the door frame and stare at my wife. She can keep things away from me very well, she’s very smart, I usually find out things as soon as they’re being planned but with her it’s different. Maybe I’m just caught up at how beautiful she is that I ignore everything else, my only focus is her all the time.
“We’ll be down in five minutes.” Portia says and hangs up. She rushes for our bags and starts throwing things around the room. Two towels and a blanket is all that is stashed into her bag. I furrow my eyebrows confused.
“Babe, wherever we’re going we’ll need more than just two towels.”
“Oh no we won’t.” She looks me up and down suddenly making me nervous. “Don’t worry I’m not gonna eat you, not in the cannibal way at least.” I stare at her puzzled tilting my head to the side. Of course all she does is laugh and walks away.
“What- baby, where are we going?” I follow her around the room, into the bathroom, out to the balcony and back inside.
“Where is the key?” I take it out of my pocket handing it to her. She stuffs it into her bag, grabs my hand and pulls me alongside her as if I’m a five year old kid.
“Portia-”
“Everything is ready, Mrs. DeGeneres.” A young brunette girl tells Portia. “It’s just right off the path that leads to the beach. Have a great time.” She hands Portia a key, gives me a smile and walks away.
“What’s that for?” I point to her hand.
“You’re very curious, aren’t you?” She winks and once again grabs my hand tugging on it for me to follow. I comply as usual. We walk in silence the short distance to a small dock, a fit tall man gets up as soon as he sees us.
“Ladies,” he greets us with a warm smile, “just as you requested.” He helps Portia climb in the small boat, I hesitate for a second but Portia takes my hand giving it a peck. “Hope you enjoy, it’s a beautiful night after all.” He winks and waves us off as Portia puts the key into the ignition.
----------------------------
“Why did you stop?” I look around and see nothing, it’s pitch-black, the only light source is the moon reflecting off the water.
“Because…” She bites her bottom lip as she starts walking towards me. The sway of her hips always gets to me and I forget any coherent thought.
“Be- baby, because?” I start stuttering.
“I want-” Soft lips kiss my neck sending chills down my back. Portia takes the hem of my shirt and starts pulling it up my body and over my head. The tips of her fingers caress my stomach up to my breasts fondling them softly. “-my dessert now.” She whispers against my neck.
“You’re-” I tug on her white tank top pulling it over her head in a single motion. “-crazy. I love you.” I grab her waist and pull her body flush against mine. Her legs go around my hips instinctively when I lift her up.
I carry her to the back of the boat and place her carefully on the couch. I lay between her legs as I kiss her chest and up to her neck where I nibble knowing it’ll leave a hickey. I then kiss along her jaw, stopping under ear softly biting it.
“Ellen…” Portia moans. Her hips start making a circular motion under me. I take her hands pinning them above her head. Her long legs pull me closer against her and my hips start grinding on their own accord.
I let go one of her hands and sneak my free hand under her unclasping her bra in a swift motion and throwing it aside. I press my hips against her center making her throw her head back. I kiss her neck biting it and sucking on it.
Portia’s heavy breathing breaks the silence as I take her nipple between my teeth and circle it with my tongue. I gently suck on it eliciting a moan, her back arches off the couch as I continue my work on her breasts.
She manages to free herself from my grasp attempting to turn us over. I press her down with my hips and bite her bottom lip. “Not today baby.” I say in a husky voice. I pop open her shorts dragging them down her beautiful legs.
The moonlight making her skin glow has me in awe, I could stare at her forever. Portia takes the opportunity and pushes me back pinning me down under her, I can’t complain I have a perfect view.
Portia smiles at her small achievement before unbuttoning my shorts dragging them down as slow as possible. Her hands linger on my inner thighs, I hold my breath when her hand is close to where I need her. She grins pulling her hand away. I groan as she drags my shorts the rest of the way throwing them behind her.
I sit up and crash my lips on hers in a passionate kiss, she pushes me back and lays on top of me as we continue to make out. I open my legs slightly hooking them around her thighs, her hips grind against my center sending a jolt of pleasure throughout my body.
“Portia-"
“Yes, baby?” Her hot breath hits my sensitive skin which making me even more wet.
“Please.” I throw my head back as her hips thrust against me.
“Please what?” She takes my nipple between her teeth lightly tugging on it.
“Stop torturing-"
“Shhh.” Her index finger shuts me up before she drags it down my chin to my chest and flicking my nipple. I hiss as her fingers close over it slightly pinching it.
Portia sits up on her knees opening my legs wider. She drags her hands up and down my stomach resting them above the band of my boxers. Her eyes burn into mine as she hooks her fingers and pulls them off. She licks her lips as she looks me up and down making me nervous.
“You're beautiful.” She breathes out. “I love you.” My heart flutters and my eyes well up, a tear managed to escape rolling down the side of my face. “Oh baby.” Portia rushes to wipe my eyes planting soft kisses all over my face until I chuckle.
“I'm so lucky.” I hold her face between my hands caressing under her eye with my thumb. “I love you.” She closes the gap between our lips in a gentle but full of love kiss.
The kiss becomes heated in a matter of seconds her underwear disappearing like magic. Her hips once again thrust against my center, I grope her butt as she keeps thrusting. Her hot ragged breath hits my neck with every thrust giving me chills.
Portia’s right hand disappears between our bodies finding it's way between my legs. The tip of her finger teases my clit in small circles, her teeth close around my nipple giving it a soft but firm bite. A moan escapes from me against my will when I feel two fingers teasing my entrance.
“Baby-” My breath hitches as her fingers slide all the way in. My back arches off the couch, my nails claw at her back as my hips start moving against her long fingers.
“Hmm?” Portia hums in my ear, her tongue sneaks out licking from my earlobe down my neck slightly nibbling, I moan knowing well she’s making a hickey. I whimper as her fingers disappear, “patience, love.” Portia’s green eyes burn into mine as she grabs both my hands pinning them above my head.
She straddles my hips and moves her own in a slow steady motion. She leans down for a passionate kiss while she places her legs between mine slowly opening them wider.
Soft lips wander down to my chest leaving light kisses as she continues to go lower. My muscles quiver as her tongue sneaks out tracing down my navel in open-mouth kisses. I grasp the cushion in anticipation, faintly I hear Portia giggle.
“Babe-” I choke on my words as her soft tongue teases my clit taking it into her warm mouth. The vibrations of her moans just arouse me even more. My fingers tangle on her blonde hair, my thighs threaten to close around her head as she continues her work on me.
Her thumb replaces her mouth as she goes down to my entrance, she shoves her tongue in a swift motion leaving me breathless.
Portia’s hand rests on my waist trying to keep me still. I look down when she stops, a wink and a sly smile tells me this is far from over. She sits up and straddles my left leg lifting my other leg up to her shoulder.
Carefully she placed herself on me in a tribbing position. She lowers herself and there's so many new things I've never felt before. I grip her thigh as she starts moving her hips against me.
A new wave of pleasure runs through me when she hits a certain spot, my head digs into the cushion as she starts moving faster.
My body stiffens and I hold my breath as I come undone. I moan louder than I intended suddenly feeling embarrassed. I pull my arm over my face hiding away from Portia.
“That was so hot.” She whispers as she lays on top of me kissing everywhere she can. “Hey...baby let me see you.” Gently Portia takes my arm off my face giving it a kiss before letting it go.
“Sorry-"
“No. There's no reason to be. I'm glad you liked it that much.” She has that grin that melts my heart but instead I roll my eyes at her cockiness.
“Don't flatter yourself, darling.” I kiss her nose. “Besides, this night is far from over.” I wink and sit up with Portia holding onto me like a koala would to a tree. Her legs around my waist and her arms around my neck in a tight hold. “I just got an idea. Come on.” I give her a mischievous smile.
“Ellen- babe no.” Portia sees what I have in mind and struggles to get off me. I walk to the edge of the boat and tighten my grip on her. “No! Ellen!” Portia shrieks as I jump into the cold water.
When we break the surface Portia gives me that glare that means I'm in trouble. I shrug it off and swim towards her. She swims further away so I go underwater and grab her leg. Even under the water I could hear her yelling at me.
I know she's a little upset but maybe what I have in mind will help her forget about it. I grab her by the waist pulling her flush against me. As upset as she is she still hooks her legs around me.
“I love you.” I say sheepishly and Portia just huffs and puffs. “I want you.” I say just loud enough for her to hear. I sneak my hand between us cupping her sex.
“Take me.” Is all I need to continue. My fingers slide with ease as my thumb circles her clit. Portia buries her face in the crook of my neck as I start pumping in and out of her.
Her nails dig into my back holding tighter on me. Water starts splashing around us as I pick up my pace. She tightens around my fingers and I hiss as she bites my neck to keep her moans from getting louder.
“Baby-” Portia holds her breath as she comes around my fingers. I hold onto her weak body as she just rests her head on my shoulder. I caress her back and kiss her head as she comes down from her high. “I love you.” It's barely a whisper but I heard it loud and clear.
“I love you more.” She lifts her head to meet me in a gentle kiss. “Look at that,” I point to the dark sky, “you are my moon, my stars, my everything.” I mumble. Portia hums as she closes her eyes with a smile on her lips.

My heart soars of happiness. I couldn't have wished for anyone better than her. She's the reason why I'm here. I kiss her head one last time before carrying her back to the boat and covering her in a blanket before driving back to the hotel.

Hot Day

Portia POV
This is the hottest summer yet, it's unbearable being outside even for a minute. The forecast for this week are record high temperatures. It's hot across the country, especially in the south. There has been various warnings concerning fires that could start from lack of rain. Not a single drop has fallen in months in California.
I sigh hastily closing my book and throwing it across the coffee table. I wipe my forehead with the back of my hand and groan. On the hottest day of the week the a.c. had to stop working, only this could happen to us.
Augie jumps on the sofa next to me panting with his tongue hanging out. He stares at me as if he's trying to tell me something. He jumps off and I follow him out of curiosity.
He walks through the living room, his tail wagging behind him, then the kitchen and stops to look out the glass door. I follow his gaze just as the sprinklers turn on. Augie barks and looks up at me, I giggle shake my head and walk away.
I need something to cool me down, maybe a glass of iced cold water can help. As I pour myself a glass Augie starts winning and scratching at the door. The noise gets Wolf's and Kid’s attention who come running to the kitchen.
The three dogs start barking as they look outside. I walk towards them to see what are they barking at, maybe an animal wandered into our backyard.
When I open the door to get a better look, they take off and run towards the sprinklers. Wolf is chasing Augie and Kid is too distracted by the sprinkler to be bothered by them.
Kid barks and bites on it as water sprays all over him. I can't help laugh at them, they roll around the ground and are covered in mud instantly. Ellen won't be very happy about this.
I shrug and decide to join them, getting a little wet can't hurt, it's hot after all. I chase after Augie and soon Wolf and Kid are running after me.
Ellen POV
The meeting today was longer than I thought. There was problems with guests not being able to make it for their day of shooting so we had to find ones that would make it. I had trouble concentrating for the upcoming show, a couple of cameras had problems which had to be assessed during rehearsal. All I want is to go home.
As I exit the building I'm hit with bright sun and the unbearable humidity. I put on my sunglasses and take off my jacket before getting in my car. I can't wait to see my wife after this long exhausting day.
I drum my fingers on the steering wheel as I wait for the red light to turn green. I had my windows down thinking the wind could help get rid of my headache but boy was I wrong, my car feels like an oven right now.
I pull up in our driveway and sigh. “Home sweet home.” I say to myself. A warm and tingly feeling surrounds me at my own words. I stay in my car a little longer to try and get rid of any signs that can give away what a long day I had. Nothing can ruin the time I have with my beautiful wife.
Laughter is the first sound I hear once I open the front door. The usual pat-pat of Wolf running to me as soon as I get home is missing. I furrow my eyebrows wondering why neither of our pets have come to jump all over me.
As I walk through the house the laughter and playful barking gets louder. I follow the sound to the kitchen and out to the yard. Portia and the dogs are soaking wet covered in mud.
“Oh. My. God.” I mutter to myself. Portia is chasing Augie and he's chasing Wolf and Kid. There's no way I could be upset at this scene playing before me. It's exactly what I've always dreamt of when I was single waiting for that one special girl that I'd marry. To come home from a long day at work and my day to end better because of her. A smile spreads across my face as I stare at them. My dream has come true.
I giggle as Portia falls unceremoniously on the grass, her arms and legs spread out, her eyes closed as the sun hits her lean figure. I clear my throat and cross my arms over my chest as if I'm upset.
“Baby! You're home!” Portia says at the top of her lungs. She's lying on the ground with Augie by her side as water sprinkles over them. She blows me a kiss and sits up. Wolf and Kid are chasing each other, that is until they see me and they start sprinting towards me.
"Oh shit.” I mutter.
“Baby, run!” Portia screams and bursts out in laughter. My eyes widened and without thinking I take off running as fast as I could. I could faintly hear Portia still laughing at me.
I take a glimpse look back at my two dogs chasing me. Kid is right on my heels with his tongue sticking out, Wolf is barking as he tries to catch up.
“Give up!” She exclaims and laughs.
“Never!” I yell back and pick up my pace. My stamina is quickly running out, my legs have become numb and could fail me in any moment. I run in Portia’s direction forgetting about the sprinklers being on, about the muddy wet grass. I forgot how slippery the grass gets when it’s wet and I slip landing on my ass.
“Baby-” Portia starts. “Are you ok?” Before I say anything both dogs jump on me and start licking all over my face. “You’re an idiot.” She states as matter of factly and joins the dogs. I’m pushed back on the ground as Portia straddles me.
“If you can’t beat them, join them.” I grab her by the waist and turn us over so I’m on top. “I’m an idiot huh?” I say and start tickling her.
“Stop!” She tries to get out of my grasp. “Baby!” Tears start streaming down her face from laughter. Augie is barking at me thinking I’m hurting his beloved owner, Wolf and Kid join in the fun jumping on both of us.
Soon enough they get bored of us and I stop my attack on Portia letting her catch her breath. I stare at her, her eyes closed with a huge goofy grin plastered on her face. I’m so in love. I think to myself. I lean forward placing a kiss on her nose. Her blue-green eyes open with a twinkle on them.
“I married an idiot.” Portia whispers. “A beautiful idiot. You’re my idiot.” She grabs my wet shirt and pulls me down closing the gap between our lips. The kiss is soft and slow, within seconds it heats up. Hands slide under our clothes, our breathing becomes ragged, we are both wet. No pun intended.
“Portia…”
“Ellen- fuck.” She hisses as I nibble on her neck. “The dogs! They went inside.” I sit up to look for them and sure enough I see Wolf’s tale disappear behind the door full of mud. I turn to look at Portia with this disapproving look. “What?” She says acting innocent.
“You’re cleaning that up.”
“No. I didn’t forget the door open…” She got me there, she’s right and I am not going to let her know that otherwise I’ll never hear the end of it.
“But- Babe- you, you had the marvelous idea of this-”I point around our wet backyard.
“Baby…” She gives me that pout and those eyes I can’t deny anything to. “Listen-” She begins to play with the hem of my shirt, I sigh. I know where this is going but I let her continue. “I love youuuu.” I laugh out loud and she pouts.
“That means I’m cleaning, doesn’t it?” Portia nods, a smile spreading across her face. “What do I get if I do it?” I challenge.
“An unforgettable night.” I like the sound of that, I wink and swiftly get up and run after the dogs. Before I go inside I turn around to look at my wife. She’s still laying on the wet grass, goofy smile on her face, eyes closed and the sun shining down on her.
“I love my life.” I say to myself and walk inside bracing myself for the mess I’m about to find.

Cooking Disaster

Ellen POV
Work was hectic, more so than usual, too many meetings that I was not needed for yet I still stayed. I have a mild headache that can possibly go away with some advil. I stop at the final red light, I can see my house in the distance, I’m impatient to see my wife after this long day.
I tap my fingers on the steering wheel irritated by how long the light takes to change. I glare at the red light, as if me giving it the ‘look’ will make it change any faster. After what seemed like hours the light finally turns green. The tires screech the pavement at the sudden action as I step on the accelerator.
As I pull up in the driveway I notice that all the lights are off which is odd. Portia should be home by now, if she was going to late at the Scandal set she would let me know just like other times.
In second thought, she would definitely be trying to scare me for that day that I hid behind the bathroom door in the morning. She was half asleep and I just couldn’t help it, my devious side wanted to scare her so I did even though I didn’t get a morning kiss that day.
Apprehensively I unlock the door, it’s completely dark aside from light coming in through the windows. I close the door behind me and wait for her to jump out of nowhere but she doesn’t. I place my keys on the table nearby and turn the lights on as I make my way through the house.
Empty. No one is here. The person I was longing to see is not here. I’m disappointed and sad, I take my phone out of my pocket and check if I have any message that I had missed but no. I open up the text message app, look for Portia’s name and send her a text asking where she is.
I place the phone on the coffee table and head to the kitchen, I’m starving. I don’t think I’ve been this hungry before, that could be because the only thing I had today was breakfast. Lunch had to be skipped because of those meetings and dinner, well I was hoping Portia and I could get take out but that doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen.
I groan, the fridge is empty and it’s only Wednesday. The only one that cooks here is Portia, aside of when she tries to teach me but gives up when I complain how hard it is to cut up vegetables the way she does. They have to be a certain size and well, I always cut them up too big or too small.
Ironically there’s only vegetables in the fridge, who would’ve thought. I have seen Portia boil vegetables and makes anything out of them. Maybe this is my time to shine, with no pressure I can probably cook. If boiling counts as cooking, that is.
I grab a pot, fill it with water and place the vegetables inside after washing them. I turn on the stove and place the pot on it, if Portia could see this I bet she would be so proud of me.
I pour a little salt, not sure I’m supposed to but I’m clueless. I haven’t found out what she does to them to taste good, I’m always distracted by her lean figure whenever she cooks. Probably the reason why I don’t learn when she tries to teach me, I can’t help but stare at her.
“Oh the lid.” I say to myself and rummage through the other pans and pots. I end up with two lids, one for sure it is but I’m not sure which one is. “I guess we’ll find out.” I say to them and roll my eyes when I hear myself talking to an object.
I decide to try the one on my right hand, I stand in front of the stove and hold the lid over the already boiling water. The hot steam fogs the lid, I lower it a little and before I’m able to place it, it slips from my grasp. Hot water splashes out of the pot on the stove and my hand. It feels as if my skin is being put on fire.
“Baby I’m home! Where are you?!” I hear Portia shout and the door closing.
“Kitchen!” I cry out. My eyes sting with tears from the pain, I can hear Portia’s heels down the hallway coming closer and closer. I hold my hand as I wait to finally see my wife. As soon as she comes into view and sees the mess of water everywhere she runs to me.
“Oh baby, what did you do?” She asks full of worry holding my hand, I wince at her soft touch. “Come here.” I’m pulled to the sink and she places my hand under the cold running water. I yelp and bite my lip to keep me from crying out profanities.
“I think I’ll leave the cooking to you from now on.” I kiss her cheek, her worry over me slowly disappearing and a smile makes its appearance on her beautiful face.
“Yeah I think that’s best but what in the world were you trying to do?” She looks behind us at the still boiling water.
“Cooking.” Portia giggles and it’s like music to my ears. “I’ve seen you put vegetables to boil so I just assumed that it couldn’t be that hard.” I clearly was proven wrong.
“You’re lucky you’re cute.” She winks making me feel weak at my knees. “Keep your hand there I’ll be back, just a sec.” I get a peck and before I can complain she’s gone.
Not a minute later she comes back with some kind of cream and tries to apply it on my hand. I hiss and jerk my hand out of her grasp when the cool cream touches my heated skin. Portia carefully takes my hand and gives me a kiss before trying again.
“Baby, stop moving and let me take care of you.” She pleads and I try not to whimper at how much I hurt. “Let's get your mind off this and tell me about your day.” She smiles, for a moment I forget about the stinging on my hand.
“Long. Very long day.” I simply say, I'd rather think of the agonizing pain than about my day. “Tell me about yours, you took longer than I thought. I'm missed you so much.” I pull a stray strand of hair behind her ear and just stare at her working on my hand.
“It was great actually,” she says excited. “We visited the Grey's Anatomy set and we had lunch and just hug out.” Portia wraps a bandage on my hand and finishes it up with a soft kiss.
“I wish I had been with you.” I pout.
“Me too baby, maybe we should have some of them over for dinner. I met with Ellen Pompeo and we talked for hours, she's so talented and funny and look-” Portia takes out her phone and shows me a selfie she took with Ellen. I feel uneasy at how close they are.
“You don't have with anyone else?” I casually ask.
“No only with her, I was with her most of the time.” That uneasy feeling soon becomes jealousy. I know Ellen, she's great and this feeling is just ridiculous but I can't help it.
“I see.” I say nonchalantly and start walking away. I plop down on the sofa grabbing the tv remote from the coffee table. I turn the tv on and switch through every channel there is. From the corner of my eye I can see Portia leaning against the wall with her arms crossed over her chest.
“Honey…” I leave the channel on a reality show and put the volume slightly higher. “Ellen what- are you mad at me?” She sighs dropping her hands to her sides.
“No.”
“Oh baby.” Portia starts walking slowly towards me. I force myself to focus on the tv instead of my beautiful wife that's standing in front of me. She sits cross legged next to me and stares at me, I can feel her eyes burning into me. Five minutes later I give in. “Will you talk to me now?” She raises her eyebrows questioningly. I nod.
“I'm not mad.” I say almost whisper I think she didn't hear me.
“I know.” Is all she says before she sits up and starts pushing me back against the cushions. “I love you, you jealous thing.”
“I'm sorry, it- it's ridiculous but-”
“Yes it is.” She cuts me off with a searing kiss. “Let me show you why baby.” I have and will always love the dominant side my wife rarely shows me. She always surprises me and that only makes the love I feel for her grow even stronger.
